MANILA, Philippines - A moderate earthquake measuring 5.8-magnitude on the Richter scale was felt in Metro Manila and nearby provinces Monday evening, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). Ronald dela Cruz of Phivolcs said the earthquake, which was initially measured with a magnitude of 5.8, was felt at 6:36 p.m. yesterday.
Intensity IV was felt in Marikina City; Intensity III in Quezon City, Makati City, Caloocan City and Manila City; and Intensity II in Cabanatuan and Palayan cities in Nueva Ecija.
Dela Cruz said the tremor was due to the movement of the Lubang Fault.
