April 18, 2011, 6:28pm MANILA, Philippines — A rejuvenated Junior Powerade squad tries to win its second straight when it battles the fancied Maynilad Water on Tuesday while Freego Jeans hopes to post its first win in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Oreta gym in Malabon.
The Tigers and the Water Dragons clash at 2 p.m. while the Freego Jeans Masters take on RnW Pacific Pipes at 4 p.m.
After dropping their first two games, the Tigers barged into the win column in style by stunning erstwhile unbeaten Cebuana Lhuillier, 77-73, at the Emilio Aguinaldo College gym in Manila last April 7.
In that game, coach Ricky Dandan got a big game from center Magi Sison who had 16 points, 10 rebounds and seven blocks. Fil-Ams John Smith and Mark Jeffries and returning UP guard Mike Gamboa also chipped in decent numbers.
Built around the core of Adamson University, the Freego Jeans Masters of coach Leo Austria are slightly favored over the Pacific Pipes squad.
Eric Camson and Lester Alvarez are expected to lead the charge of Freego Jeans which dropped its first three games.
“We’re hoping to nail our first win,” said Austria.
