SOLAR Sports may be in its final months of covering the PBA but not before being put to task anew for lapses in its coverage of the Commissioner’s Cup opener between Ginebra and Meralco in Laoag City last Friday. "I’ll definitely call their attention to it," Commissioner Chito Salud told Malaya yesterday.
Repeated audio interruptions disrupted the telecast, marring the official transfer of Solar’s broadcast of PBA games from Channel 9 to Studio 23.
Salud, who was in Laoag for the game, said initial reports on Solar’s latest lapses have reached him but added he has yet to act pending further inquiry.
"Ang hirap kasi sa nangyaring iyon, hindi ko na-monitor, unlike kung nandito lang tayo sa Manila. But I did receive some text messages to the effect, na nawala nga raw ang audio," said Salud.
"When I initially asked them (Solar), may sinabi sila tungkol sa relay station yata sa Antipolo ang problema," he added. "But I have to get the exact facts first. Sa ngayon sketchy reports pa."
Solar, which will not renew its contract as TV coveror once the three-year deal expires by the end of the current season, has previously been fined before by the PBA for major lapses in its coverage.
Last October, Salud fined Solar at least P3 million when telecasts of some PBA games went off the air.
