The Express management headed by board governor Johann Ramos and team manager Allan Gregorio had a lengthy meeting with multi-titled coach Yeng Guiao Thursday — a meeting that started in the afternoon and lasted until 9 p.m.

The meeting ended in a deadlock, but Gregorio believes a decision will be reached Monday next week.

“It was a very positive meeting. I’ve learned a lot of things in dealing with a coach in Vice Governor Guiao," Gregorio told GMANews.TV in a telephone interview. “There are things which both camps want. Coach Yeng is not the type of guy who makes demands. He just waits for us to present our case and he will also present his case. He wants the best for the team."

Guiao’s contract with the Express expired December 31, 2010, but a decision has yet to be reached up to this time.

“There was none put into writing up to this time. We met as if we were just brainstorming. We will present what we’ve discussed to our boss, Bert Lina, on Monday," said Gregorio.

Earlier, Gregorio proposed to Ramos to give Guiao a contract extension of at least until the end of the season.

The fiery mentor said that as soon as he reaches an agreement to coach Air21, he will suggest to the management to lessen movements in player personnel.

“In the previous years, mabilis ang transition or palitan ng players. I’ve asked the new management if it’s possible that we can avoid the quick transition of ins and outs of players so as not to disrupt the team chemistry," said Guiao in a previous interview.
