MANILA, Philippines - Floyd Mayweather Jr. won’t fight Manny Pacquiao even for $50 million.

“He refused the $50 million... It means he don’t wanna fight Manny at this point in his career. Very simple,” said Pacquiao’s chief adviser, Mike Koncz.

An article that came out of abs-cbnNews.com last night quoted Koncz as saying that yes, there were recent negotiations, discreet ones, with the Mayweather camp.

Koncz said the offer to split $100 million between Pacquio and Mayweather, probably the two great names in boxing for this generation, was on the table.

Neither boxer has earned $50 million for a single fight. And if Mayweather doesn’t want to fight Pacquiao “at this point in his career,” then at what point would he?

Perhaps never.

“A country that I won’t name offered us $100 million to bring the Mayweather fight there,” said Koncz.

It’s now a guessing game as to which country made the offer, but based on reports countries that have made recent bids include South Africa, Abu Dhabi, Singapore or Tokyo.

There’s Vegas, of course, and Dallas in the United States.

Or none of the above.

But regardless of the venue, Mayweather still won’t fight Pacquiao for $50 million.

Mayweather is asking for the moon, insisting on $100 million, and made people laugh.

“So we, in turn, offered $50 million to Mayweather as a guarantee[d purse]. If the pay-per-view comes in higher, Manny and Mayweather would make more,” Koncz said.

The abscbnNews.com report said “negotiations went downhill after the flamboyant Mayweather, dubbed as “Pretty Boy Floyd,” demanded a staggering $100 million purse.”

Bob Arum of Top Rank, who handles Pacquiao, has confirmed that negotiations for the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight, the biggest in decades, has bogged down anew.

This time, with Don King just around the corner.

Twice in the past, over the last couple of years, negotiations also came to a screech, not mainly for the money, but for the bloody, drug-testing issues that have cropped up.

Here comes the money issue – the biggest issue of them all.

Unless a miracle happens, this fight will never take place.
