MANILA—Ana Julaton, the WBO and IBF women’s super bantamweight champion, wants her next fight to be held in the Philippines.

“Yes, if my wish will be followed, I want to stage my next fight here before my countrymen,” said the United States-based Julaton during yesterday’s Scoop Sa Kamayan on Padre Faura. “I am a Filipino by blood and I want to show that to everybody, especially my fellow Filipinos.”

She picked Pangasinan—her father Cesario II’s home province—Cebu and Manila as possible venues for her next outing.

But her manager and trainer, Angelo Reyes, said everything will still have to be worked out by Julaton’s promoter Allen Tremblay of the Toronto-based Orio Sports.

“It will be a mandatory defense, so she should be fighting those occupying the top three fighters in her division,” Reyes said.

Julaton, 30, retained her 122-lb crowns after beating American Franchesca Alcanter by decision in California last month.

She said she hopes her next fight would be held not later than May 25, adding she wants to train with Manny Pacquiao at Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Gym in Hollywood.
