THE Philippine national Davis Cup team is waiting for Fil-American Treat Huey before planing in to Cebu to practice at the newly-built clay courts at the newly-built Plantation Bay Resort and Spa courts in Mactan City, Cebu. National Davis Cup adminisrator Randy Villanueva said Huey has just wrapped up his campaign in a professional tournament in Morroco, where he and partner Simone Vagnozzi of Italy won in the doubles against
Alessio di Mauro and Alessandro Motti, also of Italy, 6-1, 6-2.
Huey’s fellow Fil-American teammate, Cecil Mamiit, has been practicing at the Olivarez College tennis courts for the last three days, together with homegrown campaigners Johnny
Arcilla and Elbert Anasta and practice player PJ Tierro.
The country’s top junior netter Jeson Patrombon has yet to join the team’s practices.
The team only has two weeks to practice together before they face the Japanese in their Group I Asia/Oceania Davis Cup tie on March 4-5 in p a ith still two weeks to go before the Philippines faces Japan in their Group 1 Asia/Oceania Davis Cup, which be from March 4 to 6 in Cebu.
The Japanese team is expected to parade their top playes composed of Takao Suzuki, Toshihide Matsui, Go Soeda, Yuichi Sugita and Tatsuma Ito.
