MANILA, Philippines – Hopeful of bringing a more noteworthy victory this time, Filipino featherweight boxer Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista vowed to knock down Alejandro "Zorrito" Barrera in the “Pinoy Pride 3: The Rematch” headliner to be held on January 29 at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City. "Ngayon, pinapangako ko na may tutumba pero pagbubutihan ko na siya (Barrera)," Bautista said in Cebuano.
"Sa rematch namin ni Barrera, pag-iigihan ko para maging masaya ang mga manonood kasi hindi naging kapanipaniwala ang una kong panalo dahil sa head butt," he added.
Bautista had won via a technical decision in his first match against Barrera in the “Philippines vs the World” event last August.
More than a minute in the 4th round, the Mexican had suffered a cut on his left eyelid prompting officials to stop the bout and awarding the victory to the Fililpino.
Bautista holds a stunning 29-2 record, winning 22 of his fights via knockout (KO).
On the other hand, Barrera, cousin of famed boxer Marco Antonio Barrera, keeps a 21-4 record. He had won 14 of his fights via KO.
Meanwhile, Filipino Jason Pagara is set to clash with Indonesian Billy Sumba in the undercard.
Pinoy Pride 3 is a joint event co-presented by Antonio L. Aldeguer (ALA) Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports.
