Monicker/Nick: If not for his teams poor showing, Chan could have been a shoo-in for the All-Rookie Team. The former Far Easter University hotshot had a solid rookie year with Barako Bull as he averaged 9.1 points per game, which was fourth overall among rookies. He played a total of 33 games and started 18 times. Chan will take the role of Rob Waiwnright as the teams lethal weapon in the rainbow territory. The six-foot-two southpaw guard hit 54 three-pointers on 179 attempts last season and Chan may end up as one of Rain or Shines offensive options.
Chan played for the Far Eastern University Tamaraws and averaged 18.6 points per game, 4.8 rebounds per game, and 3.0 assists per game in his seniors. He grew up mostly in Bacolod City playing for University of St. La Salle. Chan started playing since grade school were he became a passionate student of the game. Since then, he was playing basketball for the school, competing in numerous tournaments and giving titles to his school.
He was once a member of a champion team in the ADIDAS Streetball Challenge in Western Visayas. During his High School years in USLS, Chan played numerous leagues in the Bacolod City, and was also chosen to be one of the players for Western Visayas to play in the Palarong Pambansa. Jeff Chan then got many offers from different schools in Manila. He joined the San Beda College training camp but before school started, Chan returned to play with the University of St. La Salle. He spent one last year in his school, then moved to Far Eastern University to play for the team.
In the PBA, after the departure of Cyrus Baguio from the Barako Bull Energy Boosters, Chan became one of the go-to-guys of the team.
In 2009, he was traded to the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.
