After wowing the audience with its Xoom tablet during the Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas last December, Motorolla is set to unveil the Atrix 4G this coming March.

The Motorola Atrix 4G is a high-end dual core 4G Android phone as well as a laptop computer. When snapped into the back of a new laptop dock, the phone switches on a full-sized screen and keyboard with a modified Android display to resemble a desktop computer.

Powered by Android 2.2, the Motorola Atrix 4G runs on Nvidias’s 1GHz Tegra 2 AP20H dual-core processor and packs 1 GB RAM and 16GB internal memory. It comes with a powerful 1930 mAh battery and a 540 x 960 4-inch multitouch screen with gorilla grass. It has a dual camera – a VGA front camera and a 5 megapixel rear camera capable of recording a 720 pixel video.

The Motorola Atrix 4G allows automatic connection to a Firefox browser when it is running on a 3G or 4G network. The phone is ideal for shooting and watching high definition videos. You can simply attach the phone into the dock and run the Entertainment Center to fully access the recorded videos.

When the phone is undocked, the Atrix 4G will suspend and hold all desktop applications and browser windows until reconnection allowing the user to continue their work without having to restart the program. When the phone is switched off, all applications will restart but the Atrix will save the browser windows as well as the documents before shutting it down.

Located at the left side of the phone is a micro-USB slot and micro-HDMI port for connecting to a television. They can also be connected to its optional laptop dock accessory. It has a finger printer that can be used for unlocking the device.

AT & T will be the exclusive carrier of the Motorola Atrix 4G and has already started with pre-orders this week. Although the phone itself is worth $200, it would be sold at $500 for both the phone and laptop dock.
