MANILA, Philippines – Amidst emerging wild speculation on the record-setting P741.17 million jackpot of the Nov. 29 draw of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office's (PCSO) Grand Lotto 6/55, PCSO-Publicity and Public Relations Department (PCSO-PPRD) Manager Manuel "Manny" Garcia Friday said the government agency was relieved the real winner came to claim his winnings on Thursday. Garcia made the statement a day after the 60-year old Balikbayan who works in New York, United States, finally claimed the enormous bonanza on Dec. 9.
"The PCSO leadership led by Chairperson Margie P. Juico is glad and relieved that he has come forward. Wild speculations and attempts to claim the Grand Lotto jackpot of P741.17 million will now stop," said Garcia.
Meanwhile, the PCSO continued to produce instant millionaires with the latest winning P57,852,694.80 during the Thursday draw of Super Lotto 6/49.
Garcia said the winner bought the ticket with the winning numbers (47-44-11-06-18-21) at the lotto outlet of Dante Reyes on Commonwealth Ave., Quezon City.
On the same day the Balikbayan showed up, PCSO-Legal Department Manager Lauro Patiag said the grandmother who executed an affidavit saying she bought the winning ticket returned for the third time as the Balikbayan winner, a building estimator in the US, was at the PCSO.
It could be recalled the Balikbayan and a nephew and a brother-in-law showed up at the PCSO headquarters at about 12 noon to claim his winnings. They left about five hours later.
