MANILA, Philippines β Public Works Secretary Rogelio Singson unveiled on Thursday a P43.4-billion road projects under the so-called public-private partnership (PPP) program, as part of upgrading the country's infrastructure to international standards. These projects are the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (Cavite side), Phase 2 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Expressway, and the NLEx-SLEx (North Luzon-South Luzon Expressway) Link Expressway.
So far, the multi-billion infrastructure project is the most ambitious for the public works department, which authorities said could hasten development in the countryside.
βThe PPP projects are ready for implementation in 2011 only because they have completed feasibility studies,β Singson said.
All of the road projects will involve more than 35 kilometers, which are scheduled for implementation next year.
Singson was among the participants attending the infrastructure conference which discussed investment opportunities involving PPP projects, as well as policy, regulatory, and legal concerns in infrastructure development.
The DPWH is one of the implementing agencies together with the Department of Transportation and Communication (DoTC) which presented its own proposed infrastructure projects for possible PPPs.
Singson said the the six-lane CALA Expressway is a vital access between Cavite economic zones, NAIA, and Metro Manila and Batangas Ports while the NAIA Expressway will connect Skyway and Manila Cavite Coastal Expressway.
The NLEx-SLEx Expressway will close the gap and complete the North to South Luzon industrial beltway.
