MANILA, Philippines -- Some 1,300 jobs are up for grabs in Abu Dhabi for highly skilled overseas Filipino workers (OFW), who were displaced from war-torn Libya. Recruitment consultant Emmanuel Geslani said in a statement that the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company and Abu Dhabi Polymers Co. Ltd have posted openings for oil and gas engineers, process operators, plant engineers, mechanical engineers and other related professions.
Geslani said that both companies will prioritize workers, who were repatriated from Libya since they already have experience in the field.
He said that interested applicants may apply at JS Contractor recruitment agency in Intramuros, Manila, where they are not required to pay any placement fee.
Meanwhile, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Director General Joel Villanueva said in a statement hundreds of repatriated OFWs have participated in a week-long nationwide certification program, which started last Monday.
Villanueva said that the program aims to raise the qualification of OFWs so they could avail of better employment opportunities abroad. About 3,000 OFWs and technical-vocational graduates have already participated in the examination.
"These newly-certified workers can now be part of the pool of the cream of the crop who have brighter chance to land in jobs because of their qualifications,” he said.
