MANILA, Philippines — President Aquino Monday pushed for frequent meetings of the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) not only to press the administration’s priority bills, but also to tackle issues affecting the nation.

The President made the proposal during the first meeting of the LEDAC in Malacañang where he called for the swift passage of 23 priority legislations vital to the nation’s growth and security.

Included in the administration’s wish list of legislations are the resetting of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) elections, protection and benefits for whistle-blowers, creation of the
Department of Housing and Urban Development, and reorganization of the National Food Authority.

“By means of our deliberations and consultations in the LEDAC, we look forward to a closer, more responsive collaboration with our strategic partners towards responsive, meaningful legislation towards a common legislative agenda,” the President said at the opening of the LEDAC meeting.

“At the end of today’s meeting, we may agree to meet more regularly or as frequently as may be necessary to address developmental issues affecting our country,” he added.
