MANILA,Philippines(PNA) – The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) said Wednesday it is sending its ambulances and first aiders for public medical assistance to key areas in Metro Manila for the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution or “Yellow Revolutions.”

The PRC, headed by Chairman Richard Gordon, committed itself to ensure the safety of the people during this much- awaited historical event.

Jonathan Somcio, in-charge of the PRC Safety Services Department Field Operations during the celebrations, said they will establish three First Aid Stations in collaboration with the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

The first station will be situated at the MMDA Tent besides People's Power Monument or the road bound for White Plains Village in Quezon City. It will be manned by personnel from the National Headquarters and the Red Cross Manila Chapter.

Meanwhile, Red Cross Chapters from Pasay and Red Cross Rizal will have their deployment at the area in front of the Philippine Oversees Employment Administration (POEA) or the south-bound lane of EDSA going to Makati.

Quezon City Red Cross Chapters and that of Valenzuela PRC will take care of the north-bound lane of EDSA going to Cubao or the area corner Santolan opposite the side of Camp Aguinaldo.

A total of six ambulance units, 60 manpower deployments (3 personnel per ambulance and 7 food patrols, first aiders) will rove around the area to join the Filipino nation in celebration of the EDSA People Power I.

The PRC Safety Services Department is tasked with the country-wide safety services campaign that include safety training program on first aid, basic life support - cardiopulmonary resuscitation, water safety such as swimming, aquatic lifesaving and life guarding, accident prevention and other basic rescue courses.

It also facilitates training on emergency medical technique (emt)-basic, rope rescue technician and vehicular extrication.
