hotshot Joe Devance of Alaska Milk and jack-in-the-box forward Harvey Carey of Talk ‘N Text in the
battle for the PBA Elims King Top Performer award.
Handed out by the PBA Press Corps after the Philippine Cup classification stage and quarterfinal
round, the award, won by Talk ‘N Text’s Ranidel de Ocampo on its maiden presentation, is
tantamount to the regular season MVP award of the prestigious All-Filipino Conference.
Through the first seven games of this all-Filipino conference, Santos and Devance took the 1-2
spots in the initial tabulation of statistics.
Santos has, to this point, averaged 37.14 Statistical Points (SP) by posting norms of 18.1 points
per game, 9.3 rebounds, 0.9 assist, 0.9 steal, and 1.0 block.
Devance, meanwhile, has a 36.29 SPs average with his 21.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 0.4
steal and 1.3 swats per game.
Starting this season, the award will be given after the quarterfinal round of the Philippine Cup or
the all-Filipino conference since the PBA has reverted to its original three-conference format –
the last two with imports.
Currently at third spot is the Tropang Texters' Carey (32.86), followed by Gary David of Powerade
at No. 4 (32.43) and Rudy Hatfield of Barangay Ginebra at No. 5 (32.0).
Completing the Top 10 are Dondon Hontiveros of San Miguel Beer (31.43), former MVP Kelly Williams
of Talk ’N Text (30.86), Jay Washington of SMB (30.0), Jimmy Alapag of TNT (28.86), and Mac
Cardona of newcomer Meralco (28.83).
