5 p.m. — Air21 vs Powerade
7:30 p.m. — Meralco vs San Miguel

MANILA, Philippines — A well-motivated San Miguel Beer side tries to extend its league-best winning streak to five when it collides with an on-and-off Meralco squad in the PBA Fiesta Cup this Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum.

The match-up between the Beermen and the Bolts is set at 7:30 p.m. right after the 5 p.m. encounter between the Air21 Express and the Powerade Tigers.

A victory by the Beermen will enable them to regain the solo lead as they are currently tied with Talk ’N Text for the lead at 5-1.

Barangay Ginebra boosted its record to 4-2 following its win over Rain or Shine last Friday while Powerade shares fourth to fifth places with slumping Alaska with identical 3-3 records.

Rain or Shine is at sixth (3-4), followed by Air21 (2-3), Barako Bull and Meralco (2-4), and defending champion B-Meg Derby Ace ( 1-5).

Powerade won its previous game against Meralco (81-66), and will face Air21 that is coming off a heartbreaking setback to Barako Bull (79-89).

“We’re finding easy not to be too carried away with our last win,” Powerade mentor Bo Perasol said. “We need the same aggressiveness and intensity in all our executions.”

Since Ato Agustin took over the coaching post, the Beermen have won their last four games – the last two through game-winning shots of wily playmaker Alex Cabagnot.

His first game winning shot was against the Aces (99-97) as the 5-foot-11 Cabagnot nailed a running jumper with 0.3 seconds left, and he followed it up with a reverse layup at the final buzzer to help his team beat the Llamados (85-83).

Agustin, however, won’t rejoice this early, saying there are lot of things to be done and more battles to be conquered.
