The Philippine Basketball Association sees no conflict in airing games at Studio 23 even if the schedule of the coming NCAA and the UAAP seasons is held approximately at the same time as the PBA’s Governors Cup. Studio 23 of ABS-CBN, which covers the varsity and collegiate cage leagues, won the right Tuesday to partner with Solar Entertainment in airing the PBA’s second and third conferences.
But with the NCAA and UAAP set to open late June or early July and the Governors Cup to end in August, the schedule of games could overlap.
“I’m sure we can fix that once we sit down and meet,” PBA commissioner Chito Salud said over the phone yesterday.
The PBA plays on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays while playing some out-of-town games on Saturdays. The UAAP and the NCAA have games practically the entire week.
Meanwhile, Meralco and Barangay Ginebra formally get the Commissioner’s Cup going on Friday, Feb. 18, in Laoag City.
