MANILA, Philippines — In an effort to resurrect its sagging Shakey’s V-League Season 8 campaign, San Sebastian College has recalled Thai hitter Jeng Bualee and tapped Filipina-Swiss Jennifer Salgado as its new guest players.

Bualee, a former league MVP who will plane in from Thailand tomorrow and Salgado, a libero, will replace former two-time MVP winner Suzanne Roces and Cherry Macatangay following the team’s disappointing slide, according to SSC coach Roger Gorayeb.

It could not be determined, however, how fit are the two players although Bualee, SSC’s guest import for six conferences, is fresh from competing in a commercial tournament in Vietnam, V-League commissioner Tony Liao said.

The Recto-based tossers hardly looked the team that finished as runner up the past two conferences as they lost all of their first three matches in Group A eliminations.

They dropped identical 1-3 losses to provincial team Southwestern University of Cebu, Lyceum and finally Ateneo.

The return of Bualee and the entry of Salgado, who has been training with the team for a week, could not have come at a better time.

Their arrival could save SSC lasses from an early vacation.

Seeking only its second crown, San Sebastian is on the brink of elimination and will face Far Eastern University in a do-or-die battle on Easter Sunday for the right to earn the final ticket to the quarterfinals in Group A.

The game starts at 4 p.m., shortly after the 2 p.m. opening game between Adamson University and College of St. Benilde at The Arena in San Juan City.

The league took a break yesterday in observance of the Holy Week. The quarterfinal round of the league backed by Mikasa and Accel begins Tuesday in the same venue.
