MANILA, Philippines – Filipino featherweight boxer Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista challenged his Mexican opponent Alejandro "Zorrito" Barrera to back up his trash talk when they collide in Cebu on Saturday.
Bautista reacted to Barrera’s boastful claim that the Filipino has a “glass jaw”.
“We will see Saturday night... He should not just talk," he said in Philboxing.com.
Bautista added that it is strange for Barrera (24-4) to make such claims since he was also knocked out before.
"Barrera has been knocked out by someone who has more than 20 losses. I was knocked out by a world champion. Let’s see who has a glass jaw," said Bautista, who was referring to Barrera’s loss to Carlos Urias (43-25) last year.
Bautista, who holds a 29-2 record, suffered his first loss in 2007 to then world champion Daniel Ponce de Leon.
The Bautista-Barrera clash is the main event of “Pinoy Pride 3: The Rematch," a fight card jointly presented by Antonio L. Aldeguer (ALA) Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports.
The fight will take place at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City.
The 24-year-old Boholano said he is motivated for the fight, especially after learning that Barrera trained with Ponce de Leon.
“That’s good," the 24-year-old Bautista said. "My anger with de Leon has been awakened."

Bautista, in a separate Philboxing.com article, also commented on reports that some fight fans perceive him in a negative way because of his conduct in and out of the ring.
The Filipino boxer told his detractors that he has been a good son to his parents.
"I help and continue to help my parents and siblings up to this day," he said.
"I don't earn as much as Manny Pacquiao, but I have properly invested my earnings," he added.
