MANILA, Philippines - Struggling Ateneo tries to get out of a slump as it takes on Adamson today in UAAP Season 73 women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan. Among the pre-season favorites, the 2009 third placer Lady Eagles have only a win to show halfway through the first round – a 3-1 drubbing of National U.
They bowed to defending champion University of Santo Tomas and 2009 runner-up La Salle, and to make matters worst, dropped a five-setter to lightweight University of the East.
The Katipunan-based spikers look for that rebound at 4 p.m. against an Adamson squad out to nail its third win and inch closer to the 4-0 of joint leaders UST and La Salle.
Last Saturday, the Lady Falcons fashioned out a straight-set dismantling of the UE Lady Warriors to catch up with their victims and National U at third spot with 2-2.
UE and NU part ways in the 2 p.m. curtain-raiser.
Meanwhile, four teams with identical 1-3 slates see action in the men’s division – Adamson versus NU at 9 a.m. and UP against Ateneo at 11 a.m.
