Will the Blue Eagles take flight again or will the Falcons soar higher this time around?

These questions will be answered on Thursday when Ateneo de Manila University and Adamson Unjiversity clash in Game 1 of the best-of-three finals of the 2010 Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL).

The Blue Eagles are aiming to win a second straight national collegiate crown while the Falcons, after a third-place finish in the 73rd UAAP, hope to end the collegiate season on a high note.

The 5 p.m. opening game of the series will be played at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.

De La Salle University and University of Cebu, which lost to Adamson and Ateneo, respectively, in the Final Four, will figure in a one-game battle for third at 3 p.m.

An exhibition game between UAAP and NCAA juniors finalists University of Santo Tomas and San Sebastian will serve as an appetizer at 12 p.m.

The defending champions will shoot for their second straight crown to complete the collegiate season with yet another title and duplicate what they did last year when they won both the UAAP and PCCL crowns.

On its fourth straight PCCL finals appearance, Ateneo is favored to beat Adamson, but coach Norman Black does not want his team to get complacent because he knows the Falcons are a dangerous squad.

“Definitely, Adamson is complete and they look to be in great shape right now. It’s going to be tough. We’re not exactly in UAAP shape, but of course we want to win the title again, whichever way. We’ll see what happens," said Black.

“Our offense is out of sync so far, but our defense is solid, so I hope we can get the job done defensively for us to get going offensively."

Adamson mentor Leo Austria said his Falcons are hungry to finally win a title.

“For us, gutom kami. Kailangan naming manalo. Gusto naming mag-champion kaya motivated ang mga bata," said Austria, who added that his squad has a new-found swagger when facing tough teams.

“Iba na yung kumpiyansa nila ngayon when facing yung malalakas na teams. Dati medyo natatakot, ngayon naniniwala na sila na kaya nila talaga talunin yung mga elite teams."
