UNIVERSITY Athletic Association of the Philippines juniors Most Valuable Player Kevin Ferrer has decided to stay within familiar grounds as he gears up for next season’s collegiate cage wars.

Despite getting lucrative offers from Ateneo de Manila University and National University, who both tried to lure him, Ferrer decided to stay home in Espana to help University of Santo Tomas’ cause for the upcoming 74th UAAP season.

Akala nang lahat na du’n ako, pero in the end, nakausap ko na parents ko at nag-decide ako to stay as a Tiger,” said Ferrer.

Ferrer admitted that the offers given to him by other schools were hard to resist, but at the end of the day, he insisted that his heart belongs to Santo Tomas.

Unlike his former teammates Kyle Neypes, another UAAP juniors most valuable player in 2009, and Cedric Labingisa, who both opted to be red-shirted for a year to join National University last year, Ferrer shared that another reason why he decided to stay was because he doesn’t want to take residency in other schools.

Mahirap pa ‘yung ganoon and siyempre gusto ko na ring maglaro,” Ferrer said.

When asked if highly touted Kiefer Ravena’s, decision to stay in Ateneo affected his choice, Ferrer admitted that it was indeed a major factor in his decision to continue donning the black and gold colors.

The lengthy 6’2” swingman is more than looking forward to his five-year stint as a Tiger.

‘’Ready na ako to play for UST.
