Ginebra was the first team to do the trick in 1991 First Conference against Formula Shell. The Turbochargers grabbed the early upper hand storming to a 3-1 lead. However, Ginebra won the next two and annexed the championship by winning Game 7 behind the acrobatic lay-up of Rudy Distrito giving Ginebra their third title.

The other to mount a comeback from a 3-1 deficit is Purefoods TJ Hotdogs beating Alaska in the semifinals of the 2005-2006 Philippine Cup before losing to the Barakos in the finals.
